Safeguarding
At the Hummingbird Learning Lab we look at safeguarding as providing the conditions to help all young people thrive. This includes a wide rage of things including child protection, attendance, mental health and wellbeing, first aid and our relationship to risk. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.
If you have a concern pertaining to the mental, physical, emotional, or sexual safety of a student please contact a member of our 'Safeguarding Team’ below.

Prevent Duty Statement
The Hummingbird Learning Lab (HLL) recognises that the promotion of fundamental British values is closely linked to our safeguarding duties, including our duty under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.
At HLL, we understand radicalisation to be a safeguarding issue. Protecting children from radicalisation is part of our wider safeguarding and child protection responsibilities, in the same way as protecting children from other forms of harm, abuse, exploitation or inappropriate influence. Our approach is grounded in relationships, reflection, critical thinking, inclusion and belonging.
HLL does not tolerate extremist views, including those that promote violence, hatred, intolerance or the undermining of the rights, safety or dignity of others. Where concerns arise that a child may be vulnerable to radicalisation, these will be treated as safeguarding concerns and will be referred to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with the HLL Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
