School Day Timings
The Hummingbird day is designed to start at 9.30am. This later start supports the adolescent brain and also allows young people travelling by train from Frome to arrive on time. We finish at 3.25pm so that students can take part in after-school activities.
Once we become a registered school, our day will finish at 4.00pm. Until that time, we are not permitted to offer more than 18 hours of education per week. We also do not yet offer a full curriculum — including PE, Maths, and Modern Languages — until we reach full school status.
Start of the Day: Young people arrive ready to begin their lessons at 9.30am.
Break Times: Morning, lunch, and afternoon breaks are an important part of the school day and are taken as needed.
End of the Day: The day finishes at 3.25pm, when students leave to go home or to other activities. They leave our site calmly and with awareness of our wider community. Any after-school activities we run, once we become a school, will follow our established processes relating to safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour.
