A space with intention
The Hummingbird Learning Lab is housed in a beautifully curated Old School House in the heart of Bruton: a space designed with intention, filled with natural light, and shaped around the belief that a beautifully designed environment is part of education.
When we're not in school, we open our doors to groups, practitioners and community makers who share our values: curiosity, kindness, wellbeing, community, and a belief that how we learn matters as much as what we learn.
We're offering an invitation into a space thoughtfully designed to support curiosity, connection and creativity. If you're running a course, a practice, a workshop or a gathering that fits that spirit then we'd love to hear from you.

The space
The Old School House offers exclusive, whole-building hire across two flexible classroom studio spaces. There are no shared corridors, no noise from other groups: when you book with us, the building is entirely yours. You will also have access car parking on site (a rarity in Bruton!)
The rooms are light, welcoming and adaptable: equally at home for singing groups, community learning, creative workshops, rehearsals, training days, and more.
We've already had the wonderful Brutones choir using the space weekly, a community first aid training, and a yoga session. We love seeing our building come alive outside of school hours.
Availability
Hummingbird spaces are available to rent:
During term time:
- At weekends only (Saturday and/or Sunday)
During school holidays:
- Most days are available during the Easter holidays and throughout the summer break.

Rates
Costs given below are excluding VAT which is added on top of this rate.
Half day (up to 4 hours): £70
Full day (up to 8 hours): £120
Full weekend: £220
Week rate (Mon-Fri, school holidays only): £450
A refundable damage deposit of £50 is required for all bookings of a full day or longer. This is returned in full following the booking, provided the space is left as found.
Practical information
We're happy to discuss multi-day and extended bookings. All rates include exclusive use of the whole building (both spaces) and are excluding VAT which is added in addition.
Before getting in touch, please read through our Lettings Policy and Terms and Conditions: they cover everything you need to know about booking with us and what to expect. The lead hirer (the person making the booking) takes responsibility for the group and the space for the duration of the hire, so it's worth making sure everyone is happy with the detail before reaching out.
Our spaces are located on the first floor and are currently accessible via stairs only. We are committed to making our space as welcoming as possible and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments with any individual or group who may need them. All bookings are subject to availability and are accepted at Hummingbird's discretion. We look forward to hearing from you.
