being the scientist

At the Hummingbird we draw on the approach, created by Beau Lotto and Dave Strudwick, where young people create an original science experiment. This work first took place at Blackawton Primary School and resulted in the world's youngest published scientists and mainstage TED speaker. The children's work was published in an academic peer review journal by the Royal Society called biology letters. Access the paper here.

The approach, which draws on a way of being that includes being caring, curious, courageous, calm (in uncertainty) and committed, has engaged young people creating their own sciecne experiments in Canada, Hungary, Australia and England.
